Guys,

Did have a Vito W638 with a "Start Error" in the display of the IC and no crank.
Was first time for me, so I started to read and find information on how to solve this problem.

Found a lot of posts for different models with different solutions, working ones and not working ones. In my case I managed to clear this fault and start the van after a lot of reading and exploring. I decided to write the steps down, just in case I run into the same problem a next time. May be it will help some one who has to solve this for the first time...

Please add any thing I forget to write down or just did not know.
Customer with W204 come to me, HVAC controls looked dead, Xentry said control unit rejected communication.
If I connected to HVAC_204 with Xentry it said control unit needed programming, but online programming would fail.
So I took software number from quick test log, and used Vediamo to flash CFF with same number as software number from quick test log.
I suspected ECU needed SCN coding to work perfectly after this, but everything seemed to work fine without performing any coding.
Just to make sure job was done perfectly, I then did online update, this updated to a newer version but no SCN coding was required and controls all working again.

Mercedes 7G-Tronic 722.9 Speed Sensor Replacement Tip

Hey,

As many know it is common failure in Mercedes 7G Tronic, that internal and turbine speed sensor stop working, Y3/8N1 & Y3/8N2.
Chinese video has been online ages to replace them, but it seems much easier in video that it really is for first timer.
So i made a little DIY walktrough.

First scrape sensor pad off of sensor, gently from side to side.
(In this picture sensor is already removed)

Then place control unit over some hard block, so it wont twist.
(When you hammer sensors, be careful not to ruin ribbon pcb, when
sensor starts moving)

Give some of good tap for both of sensors, the longer is very tight!

I drill 3,5mm hole to longer sensor, so i don't have to abuse unit so much.
Hard to take picture with drill in other hand, just drill straight

I use 3mm punch to remove longer sensor.

Old sensor.

Then clean pads with sanding paper and tweezers.

After this you can give good cleaning with electronic cleaner.
I use engine sealant to glue sensors, put to sides and i put to head also for the longer sensor, which hole we earlier drilled.
Push sensor with something to make sure it is 100% seated.

Melt the new sensor a bit with soldering iron, to make sure it stays in place

Use good solder and preheat pins, solder nice balls in every pin.

Then heat with iron and use a flathead screwdriver to push gently the pads to pins.

Mercedes C220 2002 CAN BUS Communication Errors Solution

Finally dear AP members, after months of trying to figure out what was causing my C220 W203 206 MY 2002 Benz's auto transmission to fail, gears not shifting, and when they did would feel big jolt, lights on dash flickering more than a Xmas tree and ESP, ABS, BAS, Temp error, steering sensor N49 faulty, Steering Module fault, IC faulty, you name it, etc happening. Went searching on net probable causes for mainly auto transmission issues with ESP, ABS related issues as they are all interconnected as one fails, the other fails as well, as came across that 722.6 Auto Transmission oil tends to wick its way up the cables into the transmission control module located under front right passenger carpet if left hand drive car, which after lifting car up to inspect leaks due to worn O-rings on connector which in fact there was a leak but fortunately didn't reach the modules. Got cables cleaned with brake and carb cleaner to get rid of the trans oil, and since 190.000kms on the clock got the transmission electrical board, filter, oil and new connector with o-rings replaced, checked and tested solenoids, but problems still there with several DTC's which won't be able to to mention here as they were so many that made it hard for me to locate/diagnose the problem. So after many hours spent reading here and there to try and figure out the cause since dealer only said that it was main ECM (that's always their first diagnosis). Stubborn as I am and since ECM diagnosis and repair is what I do, have put that aside as I knew that it wasn't from that. Sunny days the car ran well while rainy humid days not so well. Battery by coincidence went dead and had new one place in... guess what problem was solved (just for a few weeks as it was just a coincidence and nothing to do with the cause). Car started again acting up last week that I was so p*ssed off that went to parking lot and decided to drift and make donuts with Benz since rear wheel drive and ESP wasn't functioning was ready to destroy transmission that day, but then calmed down and decided to drive back home. This morning decided to look again at transmission connector in search of leaks and oil seeping up the cables which not there.
Got diagnostic tool connected again with same errors but connection with modules were slow in order to get DTC's as there was a resistance in the communication, when P0600 showed up (loss of CAN communication between modules). OK, so we have a new code. Was decided to strip down car and check wiring starting at front left footwell side wall where Interior Can Connector OEM 0025467940 is located and voila mystery solved (check pictures and video for its location) interior can connector was corroded.
So if any of you ever encounter a situation similar to this, check the can connector first.
Since I didn't have a new interior CAN connectors in hand which is not that expensive nor hard to exchange, I just cut the wires and joined them accordingly soldering them for best connection, and placing heat shrink on the wires to get the car working properly.
Hope this long tale helps anybody with same issue.

This is copied from a Farsight release! I am not sure if it is true!
In the past Mercedes-Benz only supported engine and transmission programming. Now with complete vehicle (all module) programming (SCN Coding) available, you can deliver the factory experience with a touch of personalized service to your customers.
So,
As Patrian likes to say...
Start your engines!

Cause, what we need to know, is still in the clouds!
Is it worth the money?
Is it just cars or PKW, what about Sprinters, and big trucks?
Will it do anymore than Initial Startup and adaptations?
Can we buy it in Canada and any other markets?
Does it work?
Does it REALLY do SCN all modules... I have not heard or read that in any MB document yet, I am still reading tho...
Is it just a programming utility, or is there some diagnostics.

This post is a guide for members that need some details about the Mercedes 722.9 valve body and sensors.
Two documents are provided for this model.
(1) A description of models and sensor plate component illustrations.
Mercedes 722.9.pdf
(2) Another way to prepare the MB 722.9 valve body without a factory tool.
VGSNAG_722.9.pdf

This is only personal experience while supporting another repair facility that had a problem with turbine speed errors.
The most difficult part was "convincing" the dealer to sell the part. Another option would have been to send the sensor plate away for repairs but the customer wanted the MB repaired as quickly as possible. The tool/software "manual" we used is described clearly from Bluelink.
I do enjoy these "social" experiments.

Mercedes PartD (C3) Patch For XDOS 3-7/2016

Many PartD (C3) owners are aware of its C3 limitation, still want to use their devices with latest XDOS.
That's why I share this Patch and I wish they will enjoy just like I do.

Symptom:
For 03-07/2016, C3 when using DAS will stuck with Cal 830 Error. This happens since MB adds PartZ (Bosch VCI) in 03-2016 and doesn't change until 07-2016.
Somehow, this new PartZ negates PartD in DAS.

While waiting MB fixes this, you can use this patch for your C3.

PS:
1. If you want to use your SDConnect (C4) and C3 with the same XDOS, make a batch file to switch.
2. Don't use any DAS BLACKLIST. Use only Xentry blacklist.
3. I use my C3 with XDOS since it is publicly available (07-2015) until 07-2016, for diagnose, adaptation, parametrization and online programming with proparts for MB CV and never get any trouble.
4. I have made an Acronis image with full DAS features for Dell 630 to be shared for newbie. Please wait, it's size hurts.
Just discovered this "bug" in software... few months ago..
So in AMG Mercedes (I don't know witch model is) has the following "bug" in software:
If the rear door lock actuator is faulty, could stop working the power steering middle of the road.
Why? Because when you push the "Sport" button, the car will lock the 2 rear doors. And the steering assist change the characteristic of power assist.
So if the system get some wrong feedback from rear door locks, can freezing the software...
