I have a customer that is another shop and was replacing a transmission on a 2015 BMW X1. It has the 8HP45 transmission and I have a Autel IM508 with XP400Pro that I usually use to virginize or renew modules ant it has served me well but it doesn't offer this for the E series 8HP transmission, only the 6HP for the E series or the 8HP for the F series. I told them that i wasn't able to do it and that they should just use the original mechatronics module in the transmission so they don't have the issue. I didn't get a chance to look at or diagnose the car so I don't know why they replaced the transmission. I think he said when they tried to shift it to gear once they let go of the shifter it would shift right back to park.

So they ended up keeping the module in and finding someone that could offer the service of changing the VIN and ISN in the EGS. Now it won't shift at all. When you try to shift out of park to drive or reverse or neutral it doesn't even try to shift. It just keeps the P illuminated. If you take your foot off the brake and try it pops up the warning on the dash to press the pedal or if you don't hold the release button on the shifter and try it pops up with a warning on the dash to press the button. They brought me the car and I checked with ISTA/D and it shows that the shifter is reading when i'm trying to change gears. I also hooked up my Autel and it shows that the VIN matches in all the modules but i'm not able to read the ISN with my Autel. No codes to lead me to anything.

The customer had the original guy come back out and he said everything was matching but the customer didn't really understand what they were showing him or what software he was using.

My question is: Does anyone know a way for me to verify the ISN in the EGS is matching the DME and CAS? Or anyone that can help with resetting the EGS so it can match? It's acting like it won't shift because of the security.

The customer said he had another shop that said they knew someone that could remote in to fix it possibly but i figured if that's an option i would hit up the guru's here to see if that's a possibility.

I have the Autel but i also have an ICOM with ISTA.
I appreciate any help and guidance with this.

The car is a 2013 BMW 750li and the customer brought it to me because it was missing a key and needed one programmed. They tried to have someone else program one and they did not succeed, then ordered one from BMW and didn't work. Pretty sure the first guy messed something up but I don't know for sure. After taking to dealer they told him he needed to replace multiple ECM's so he bought a set of ECM's, CAS4, and key from a yard and installed and got it running. Problem was it wasn't synced to car.

Anyways i asked for the original ECM's and CAS4 and took home and was able to program 2 keys to original. Installed original CAS4 and ECM's and the car started and had a few hiccups. ECM kept throwing a 1F2108 code which is saying the CAS and DME variant don't match so it puts it in limp mode. I ended up damaging the ECM so I'm now working with the other pair of ECM that he supplied. I was able to change the VIN in the ECM and and ISN to match the CAS. Now I'm having problem with programming. I have done research and heard that you had to reset the working hours. I'm able to get the dump from the ECM but i can only get access to one dump which has the VIN and the ISN. I'm guessing this is the D-flash but not a 100%. The tool I'm using is a Autel IM508 with the XP400Pro.

I know that was long winded but I'm trying to give ya'll plenty of info. If anyone can help with resetting working hours or help with some guidance I would be greatly appreciative.
