Hello mates,
Recently I was made aware that our shop is in the process of acquiring some new diagnostic tools and I was asked this question by employer:
"Why should we get GM Tech2Win? Isn't that what the Snap-On Verus is for? EVERYTHING?! Or... should we get Tech2Win instead of Verus?"
So that brings me now to this question for the pros
Being mostly GM, Chevy, Ford and some Toyota fleet, what would you guys recommend? We currently have Ford IDS R93.01 and they're having second thoughts of having this because of Ford's updates and how its been such a headache for them to update. But I know this, once employer's decide to take something away, good luck getting that back!
So if Tech2Win is more beneficial for us to have, then I will push for that.
I don't think programming is needed, but correct me if I'm wrong please, if for example it can be done by any beginner tech and the calibration resolves customer complaints, then I can bring that up also. We are a fleet and employer is really picky about having original software, cables, tools. etc.

Sorry if this is posted in a wrong place.
And thanks to all AP'ers! give yourselves a hand, you're all great!

To all Autoland owners (especially those down under) Autoland has released Holden software that I think is brilliant. I have been trialing the software for a few months and I had the Engineers here to test/develop the software.

All Holden models are covered up to 2012 - not just the Commodores.
Enjoy

Hi guys!

I have 2x genuine tech2 (opel, gmc etc). they are both not working properly, but in a different way. the problem comes from the VCI in both of them.

1x from vetronix 1x from OTC, but they both share the same VCI. they was work properly... than one after the other (few month apart) they start to give weird symptom...

the symptom of the first one, is that it sees CANDY module when booting (and it passes all the test when you do CANDY self test in menu), but when trying to communicate with vehicule (which require CAN communication via CANDY), it says no CANDY module detected. (on bench also... so not a vehicle problem)

the second one have the same problem, but just by intermittence (you just wiggle the VCI when it happens and it is ok then), also by intermittence, module that talk via PIN 1 of DLC can stop communicating, and it does not communicate with module which talks via DLC pin 13 (as I remember).

I wanted to know if any of you have some experience with that. I have visually inspect both board (weld, trace etc.), all ok... try to weld back most of the component in the first one, without improvement... I did not touch the second one for now. I would really like to fix at least the first one. so asking around if someone knows what to test about that weird CANDY problem.. any info will be much appreciated, if anyone have some!

I have some pics in my phone which I will upload soon.

n.b.: 4 sure problem is not in mainboard, neither in cable or CANDY module itself... everything has been swapped over to find which part have what problem.

thanks guys!!!

Does anyone have any information regarding diagnostic tools for Cadillac Europe vehicles?

Will GDS2 and MDI cover these?
Tech2 card download from TIS?

I have been asked to look at a Cadillac with what looks like an immo problem.
The key/system looks just like a SAAB.

Should I just forget it and stick to more common manufacturers?

Hi mates.
The GM MDI hardware has a recovery option.

If a firmware upgrade could not be finished successfully the MDI cannot be used anymore because the firmware inside is corrupted.

Then you can start a firmware recovery process if you press a button on the MDI when you start up your MDI hardware and try to write another firmware version which is available from the MDI manager software.

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware version of your GM MDI copy by using this MDI recovery process?

So has each MDI manager version one recovery firmware inside?

Does anyone know if there are other non-automotive systems compatible cards that can be used with success?
Thanks.
