I've heard from my BMW expert friend that there is possibility for me to get original BMW diagnostic hardware (ICOM) and just setup remote access to my USB port without installing any of BMW software and he could do remote diagnostics and programming. If it is true, how much is it complicated to make that setup?

I've heard that you can use the K+D-Can as the DK-20 in the VM BMW GT1, and have been wondering if the ICOM-A could be the DK-20 in this manner too, may I ask if anyone here know anything about this? I'll be greatly appreciate if anyone can enlighten me, thanks advance.
